The Premier Dr. Zamani Saul is currently leading a high level Government delegation which includes the MEC responsible for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Ms. Venus Blennies-Magage together with the Acting CEO of NCEDA, Mr. Shawn Modise, the Chief of Staff, Mr. Neo Maneng and the Media Liasion Officer to the MEC, Ms. Kgalalelo Matsime on an outbound mission to the Republic of Karelia and the Republic of Belarus.
The delegation is set to visit the Republic of Karelia in the Russian Federation from 26 to 31 August 2025, followed by a strategic visit to the Republic of Belarus, including the Belaz Plant, from 01 to 03 September 2025.
The mission to the Republic of Karelia will culminate in the signing of a bilateral agreement on the establishment of international and foreign economic cooperation in the fields of trade, economic development, scientific and technical exchange, humanitarian collaboration, and cultural cooperation between the Republic of Karelia and the Northern Cape Province. This will focus on identifying and fostering concrete collaboration across key sectors.
The Republic of Belarus leg of the mission involves engagement with a company that has formally expressed interest in investing in the Namakwa Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and the Northern Cape Industrial Corridor.
The delegation will also visit the Belaz Plant, which is central to advance industrial and component manufacturing. This mission further aims to strengthen South Africa's strategic partnership within the BRICS framework, leveraging opportunities for the Northern Cape Province in trade, investment, and various forms of collaboration.
The MEC for COGHSTA, Mr. Bentley Vass, will be the Acting Premier, for the duration of the outbound mission.
